TERMS OF USE (TOU) — HALIAGO

These Terms of Use (the “TOU”) govern access to and use of the Haliago mobile application (Android / iOS) and, where applicable, any associated user-facing web interface (the “Platform”).
Important: The paid Haliago Pro services intended for professionals are governed by separate Haliago Pro Terms and Conditions of Sale (TCS). A professional using the Haliago app as an end user remains subject to these TOU for that use.
1. Publisher — Definitions
1.1 Publisher

1.2 Definitions
- User: any person using the Platform, whether an individual or a professional.
- Professional: any user acting in the course of their professional activity (e.g., a restaurant owner), whether or not they use Haliago Pro.
- Venue: any listed place (restaurant, butcher shop, bakery, etc.).
- Listing: a venue’s descriptive page (information, photos, tags, declared certifications, reviews, etc.).
- Content: any content published, uploaded, transmitted, or made available through the Platform (reviews, text, photos, collections, suggestions, etc.).
- Haliago Points: points awarded based on activity and contribution, used as an engagement indicator and to unlock ranks/badges.
2. Purpose — Acceptance
2.1 Purpose
The Platform aims to facilitate the discovery of halal venues and/or venues compatible with certain dietary and ethical criteria, through search and filtering tools and a community layer (reviews, ratings, suggestions, and reports).
2.2 Acceptance
Use of the Platform implies full and unconditional acceptance of these TOU. If the User does not agree, they must stop using the Platform.
3. Access to the service — Availability
3.1 Access
The Platform is accessible on mobile (Android / iOS) and may be available in multiple countries depending on Haliago’s rollout areas.
3.2 Availability — Maintenance
Haliago uses reasonable efforts to ensure access to the Platform, without guaranteeing continuous availability. Interruptions may occur (maintenance, updates, incidents). Maintenance communications may be displayed within Haliago interfaces.
3.3 Third-party services
The Platform may rely on third-party services (mapping, app stores, external links, etc.). Haliago does not control these services and cannot be held liable for their unavailability or malfunction.
4. User account
4.1 Account creation and requirement
Creating a Haliago account is required in particular to access:
- posting reviews (text and/or photos);
- adding favorites;
- creating and managing collections;
- following other users;
- participating in the Haliago Points system.
4.2 Account data
When registering, the User may be required to provide: email, username, phone number, and, where applicable, country (optional), city (if provided), avatar, and any other element associated with their profile and contributions.
4.3 Account security
The User is responsible for keeping their credentials confidential, securing access to their device, and all activity carried out via their account. If unauthorized access is suspected, the User must contact Haliago without delay.
5. Features — Nature of information
5.1 Search and filters
The Platform offers search and filtering features (category, tags, cuisine type, declared compliance, dietary regimes, etc.) to help Users identify venues that match their expectations.
5.2 Declarative nature — No certification
Information relating to halal status, certifications, tags, and venue compliance is declarative (provided by professionals, the community, or aggregated from contributions). Haliago does not issue any certification, does not conduct on-site audits, and provides no guarantee of compliance. Consumption choices remain the User’s responsibility.
5.3 Location
- The “near me” mode requires enabling location services on the device.
- The User may choose an alternative location to plan a trip; results will then rely on that chosen location.
6. Contributions — Reviews, photos, collections, suggestions
6.1 Reviews and photos
The User may publish reviews (text) and, where applicable, photos. Reviews must reflect a genuine experience, be fair, useful, and comply with the rules of conduct (Section 9).
6.2 Collections
The User may create collections (private or public) grouping venues. The User remains responsible for the titles, descriptions, and any highlighting choices they publish.
6.3 Adding venues and suggesting edits
The User may:
- suggest adding an unlisted venue;
- suggest edits to a listing’s data.
Processing and publication may depend in particular on the User’s reliability/contribution level (Haliago Points, history, contribution quality) and/or human validation.
7. Haliago Points system — Badges — Rankings
7.1 Principles
Haliago Points are an indicator of community involvement and may unlock ranks/badges and feed rankings (leaderboard).
7.2 Awarding (non-exhaustive examples)
Haliago Points may be awarded, based on effort and quality criteria, in particular for:
- a text review;
- a review with photo(s);
- adding a venue;
- suggesting an edit;
- a validated report.
7.3 No monetary value
Haliago Points have no monetary value, do not constitute a payment instrument, are not refundable, and cannot be transferred or sold.
7.4 Adjustments and fraud
In case of fraud, manipulation, spam, impersonation, anomalies, or contributions deemed inauthentic, Haliago may:
- cancel improperly obtained points;
- adjust the score;
- restrict access to certain features (badges, leaderboard);
- apply measures under Section 8.
8. Reports — Moderation — Measures
8.1 Reports
Users may report content (reviews, photos, listings) or information (disputable certifications/tags). Reports contribute to the Platform’s reliability.
8.2 Moderation
Moderation is primarily human and relies on reports, context, and available elements.
8.3 Hiding content
Haliago may hide content that violates these TOU (content not publicly visible). Except where required by law or for technical necessity, Haliago may retain content in its systems to ensure traceability, fight fraud, and preserve service integrity.
8.4 Disputes and support
The User may interact with the team via:
- an in-app form;
- and, if desired, by email.
8.5 Applicable measures
In case of TOU violations, Haliago may, depending on severity:
- warn the User;
- limit certain features;
- hide content;
- temporarily suspend the account;
- remove access to the account (ban) in case of serious or repeated breaches.
9. Rules of conduct — Prohibitions
The User undertakes to use the Platform fairly and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The following are prohibited in particular (non-exhaustive list):
- hateful, discriminatory, insulting, defamatory statements; harassment;
- misleading content, fake reviews, rating manipulation, incitement to publish false content;
- identity theft, invasion of privacy, disclosure of others’ personal data;
- unsolicited advertising content, spam, malicious links;
- infringement of third-party rights (copyright, trademarks, image rights);
- attempts to bypass technical measures, scraping, data extraction, unauthorized automated exploitation.
10. Intellectual property
10.1 Haliago rights
The Platform, its trademarks, logos, databases, interfaces, algorithms, and more generally protected elements are the property of Haliago or its licensors. Any unauthorized reproduction or use is prohibited.
10.2 License over user content
The User grants Haliago a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license allowing Haliago to host, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute their Content for the purposes of:
- operating and improving the Platform;
- presenting listings, reviews, and collections;
- moderation, security, and fraud prevention;
- Platform-related communications (e.g., highlighting public content within reasonable limits).
10.3 User warranties
The User warrants that they hold the necessary rights to their Content (photos, text, etc.) and undertakes to indemnify Haliago against any third-party claim related to a rights violation.
11. Personal data — Confidentiality
11.1 Data processed
Haliago processes, in particular, account data (email, username, phone, etc.), contribution data (reviews, photos, collections), as well as technical and usage data.
11.2 Audience measurement and communications
- Haliago uses Google Analytics for audience measurement.
- Transactional emails may be sent (account operation, essential notifications).
- Marketing/newsletter communications and push notifications may be offered depending on settings, applicable law, and the User’s choices (unsubscribe available).
11.3 Processors
Haliago may use, in particular:
- OVH (hosting),
- Mailjet (emailing),
- Google Analytics (audience measurement), and, for professional services, Stripe (payments), depending on the features used.
11.4 Data deletion
The User may request deletion of their account via the in-app procedure. Deletion is carried out within a maximum of 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations.
12. Liability — Warranties
12.1 Best-efforts obligation
Haliago is bound by a best-efforts obligation. The Platform is provided “as is” given technical constraints and reliance on third-party services.
12.2 Liability for content and information
- Content published by Users and Professionals remains the responsibility of its authors.
- Haliago is not responsible for consumption decisions, in-venue experiences, or the absolute accuracy of declarative information (including halal, certifications, tags).
12.3 Links and third-party services
The Platform may link to third-party services (maps, social networks, delivery platforms). Haliago has no control over these services and disclaims any liability in this respect.
13. Suspension — Termination — Account deletion
13.1 Suspension
Haliago may suspend or restrict access to an account in case of TOU non-compliance, including fraud, manipulation, spam, impersonation, security threats, or illegal content.
13.2 Account deletion
The User may request deletion of their account via the app. Deletion is processed within a maximum of 30 days.
13.3 Anonymization of contributions
To preserve rating integrity, community history, and fraud prevention, published contributions (reviews, ratings, etc.) may be anonymized upon account deletion rather than removed.
14. Changes to the TOU and the service
Haliago reserves the right to evolve the Platform, its features, and these TOU. In the event of material changes, Haliago may inform Users by any appropriate means (notification, email, in-app display). Continued use of the Platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised TOU.
15. Governing law — Disputes
These TOU are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory provisions applicable in the User’s country of residence. In case of difficulty, the User is invited to contact Haliago through the support channels indicated in these TOU in order to seek an amicable solution before any action.
