Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Haliago: the halal information shown, search, the community, the scanner and the business space.

Haliago and trust

What is Haliago?

Haliago is a community platform for discovering halal restaurants and businesses. Listings show available business information, any recorded certifications, reviews and search criteria to help you make your choice.

Does Haliago certify halal businesses?

No. Haliago lists businesses but does not issue halal certifications, conduct on-site audits or guarantee compliance. Information may come from business owners, the community or other sources.

What does a halal certification listed on Haliago mean?

A listed certification identifies the certification body associated with the business, based on available information. Supporting evidence may be viewable if provided. It does not mean Haliago issued or independently confirmed the certification.

How does the Haliago Score work?

The Haliago Score is an indicator out of 100 calculated from information about a business. It appears on the business listing, and its breakdown by criterion is available in the Haliago app. It is neither a halal certification nor a religious ruling.

Community and moderation

How can I add, correct or report a listing?

You can suggest a missing business, propose a listing correction or report problematic information or content using the features provided on Haliago. Some contributions are reviewed before publication.

How are contributions and reports handled?

Haliago may review contributions and reports based on context and available evidence. Content that breaches the rules may be hidden or removed, and disputed information may be reassessed.

Halal scanner

Does the scanner guarantee that a product is halal?

No. The scanner analyses a product’s declared ingredients and flags prohibited, uncertain or potentially problematic ingredients. It does not certify the product or replace halal certification.

Where does scanner data come from, and what does “To check” mean?

The scanner uses product data from sources including Open Food Facts to analyse available ingredient lists. “To check” means that information is missing or an ingredient needs further verification. If in doubt, check the label or ask the manufacturer.

Businesses

I own a business. How can I manage my Haliago listing?

Find your business on Haliago and start the listing claim process. Once the claim is approved, you can manage the information and tools available under your business plan.

What is free for businesses?

Haliago offers a free plan for managing essential business information and accessing certain tools, including a basic digital menu and QR code. Current features and terms are listed on the Pricing page.
