Understanding certifications in France

AVS, Achahada, AHS... We explain the differences between these organizations and what you really need to check.

The halal market in France is complex because there is no single, government-run certification body. Several private organizations (such as AVS, Achahada, AHS, or the mosques of Évry and Lyon) have their own specifications and slaughter methods.

At Haliago, we do not take sides with one organization over another. Our role is to be absolutely transparent: we require the information to be clearly displayed. Is it an official certificate with a current validity date? Is it simply a butcher's invoice?

The best reflex is always to verify the validity of a certificate on-site (often displayed in the window or near the register). If an establishment refuses to provide this information, we invite you to report it on the app!
